Het Parool is the newspaper written by and for the people of Amsterdam and for everyone who wants to know what is going on in the capital. An essential source of news and an important guide to the arts, culture and lifestyle. It is a city newspaper with national ambitions. It has a daily readership of 219.000 readers (NOM 2011 II - 2012 I).

The combination of local, national and international news makes Het Parool a newspaper with a unique position in the Dutch media scene. News from Amsterdam, culture and media make up the main part of the newspaper, but international affairs, the economy and sport are also well covered.

Het Parool consists of the newspaper, the daily topical section ‘PS’ and the weekend supplement ‘PS van de week’. ‘PS’ covers various topics such as sport, style, art, children, homes and on Saturday science, travel and motor.

‘PS van de Week’ is Amsterdam’s city magazine. Each week, readers can browse through a series of interviews, a comprehensive guide to going out and the arts in Amsterdam and a popular ‘Eten & Drinken’ section with a letters page on cookery and wine. Since 2010, the people of Amsterdam have also been able to read their newspaper in an iPad version.
